AAF-SD Hires New Executive Director
January 12th, 2025 — The American Advertising Federation of South Dakota (AAF-SD) is pleased to announce Kat Jelen as its new Executive Director. She will begin transitioning into the role immediately.
“What excites me most about stepping into the Executive Director role for AAF-SD is the opportunity to support and champion the advertising, creative, and marketing professionals who help drive our state’s cultural and economic vitality,” Jelen said. “AAF-SD plays a valuable role in developing talent, elevating industry standards, and cultivating a connected professional community. It is work I am honored to help strengthen and expand.”
Jelen brings extensive experience in marketing, communications, and nonprofit leadership to the role. She most recently served as the Marketing and Communications Director for Collision Ministries, a national nonprofit based in Sioux Falls. In that role, she led the organization’s brand, communications strategy, and public presence, with a focus on partner and donor engagement and large-scale event planning. She collaborated closely with executive leadership, partner organizations, and external stakeholders—experience that aligns well with the collaborative, relationship-driven work of AAF-SD.
Outside of work, Jelen enjoys spending time with her husband and two young children, playing pickleball, and searching for the world’s best chocolate bar.
Jelen will work closely with the AAF-SD board of directors as she transitions into her new duties and continues the organization’s mission of supporting and advancing the advertising industry across South Dakota.
The American Advertising Federation – South Dakota (AAF-SD) was established in 1965 and represents professionals across all disciplines and career levels in advertising.
