L&S: Copywriter

L&S is looking for a passionate, collaborative Copywriter to join the team and create award-winning work. At L&S, Copywriters work with other creatives and across disciplines to brainstorm campaign ideas, write persuasive and inventive copy for all media, proof and edit content, and apply creative thinking to tell stories in new, engaging ways that connect with audiences.

 

WHO YOU ARE

A Copywriter is a critical thinker who can solve problems, translating benefits and services into a compelling, consumer-focused selling proposition. Copywriters are self-motivated, love to write and are prolific brainstormers. They’re also skilled at summarizing ideas for clarity, varying style and tone, and knowing when to use a colon vs. a semicolon.

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Take direction from a creative brief and translate it into an imaginative, original concept that connects with a target audience and impacts client goals.

  • Write conversational, compelling copy for video, social media, email, websites, print, radio, paid search and more.

  • Assist clients with brand strategy, positioning and taglines.

  • Collaborate with other creatives to brainstorm ideas, vet concepts and take constructive feedback.

  • Proof and edit copy for spelling, grammar, structure, tone and style.

  • Research clients and their industries to understand products, audiences, competition and trends.

  • Keep your finger on the pulse of news, pop culture and ad industry trends to write content that’s relevant.

  • Stay organized and work well under pressure, juggling several projects at once and hitting deadlines.

  • Work with design and video teams to contribute to visual direction.

  • Present concepts and copy alongside a Creative Director, explaining your ideas and taking feedback.

  • Exhibit a drive for learning, self-improvement and growth.

  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team to communicate project statuses, extend your concepts across media and develop digital content ideas.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in advertising, journalism, communications, English or a related field

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office

  • A portfolio of work or writing samples is required

  • Prior professional writing or agency experience is preferred

This position is for the Sioux Falls office.
