Missouri River Energy Services: Communications Summer Intern

Missouri River Energy Services is looking for an enthusiastic full-time intern for summer 2023 who wants first-hand experience in writing, advertising, marketing, social media, videography and production, graphic design and/or photography.

Depending on your skill set and your level of interest, you could be working on a variety of projects such as:

  • Writing persuasive copy for all media, including video, social, print, radio and more that helps promote public power utilities (industry knowledge not required)

  • Participating in a variety of communications and marketing functions that support the organization’s communications goals and initiatives

  • Taking “on the job” photos and videos of employees in Sioux Falls and traveling to our member communities to do the same

  • Using your graphic design skills to assist with marketing materials

  • Assisting with website content

  • Supporting MRES social media efforts

Knowledge, Skills and Requirements:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work independently and successfully interact with others

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office

  • Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously, without close supervision.

  • Familiar with current social media

  • Possess a current valid driver’s license

  • Preference of experience with video editing software, and Photoshop and/or Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Illustrator and InDesign

Students pursuing a degree in Journalism, Marketing, Graphic Design, Digital Media, Communications, Public Relations or similar field of study are encouraged to apply. This full-time paid position begins mid-May and goes through mid-August (but super flexible).
